Mem Fox author study

For the next two weeks, we're going to be looking at books written by Australian author Mem Fox.

She's written some ripping stories, including Possum Magic and Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge.

Just as you did with the Anthony Browne web quest, please send your answers to me in an email. If you can't do this for some reason, write your answers on to paper or type them into a Word document and print them out.

Good luck!

Elmer and his friends

After reading Elmer The Elephant, we made our own colourful papier mache elephants, just like the ones at the end of the book!

The body is made from a balloon covered in papier mache, while the trunk is made from toilet rolls and the legs are made from egg cartons.

They look fantastic, but make great money boxes, too.

The Jays will head into the term 2 finals series undefeated after beating Team 2 in round six of the very first futsal roster held at Ravenswood Heights Primary.

Second-placed Futsal Force also go into the finals with good form after they beat The Projects in round six.

The Projects finished the home-and-away roster in third place and Team 2 finished in fourth, with both teams boasting some stars of the future and showing great improvement over the roster.

Before the finals, the leading scorer is Drew McIntosh with 16 goals, including a mighty four-goal haul in week one, while Corey Hay, Charlie Goodyer and Caleb Moore are all tied in second place with 10 goals each.

Relocation work

Hope you all have a great day in your relocation classes today.

Remember, just because you're relocated doesn't mean you can't work towards your class circle goal of helping others, listening to your teacher or controlling your anger.

Literacy task
Finish your draft of an Anthony Browne book blurb and then publish on the computer (if your teacher gives you computer time). Remember to add a picture and use interesting fonts.

Numeracy task
Rule up a grid that is 13 squares across and 13 squares down. Then write an x in the top left corner and the numbers 1 to 12 in the top line and the line on the left. It should look like this:

Now write in as many multiplication facts as you can. Get the help of other students relocated from our class, if you want. Then test each other with questions like "What is the answer to 4 x 3?" and use the grid to get your answers. See how quickly you can find the answer!

Art task
Use Brushster (www.nga.gov/kids/zone/brushster.htm) to create a picture for each of the emotions we're looking at in SEL at the moment. The emotions are anger, frustration, disappointment, loneliness and rejection, jealousy, embarrassment and shame. Think about the different things you can do when you feel these ways. Good luck!

See you tomorrow,
Mr Joyce.

2. Click on the links to find the answer.

3. Write your answers in an email and send them to Mr Joyce.

Good luck!

Mr Joyce.
